According to what was published on the Ministry of Trade on 20 October 2026, the Ministry held a consultative meeting with a number of economic federations and organisations, the Private Sector Development Council, the Iraq Securities Commission and the Companies Registration Directorate to discuss the draft amendment of the Companies Law No. 21 of 1997 prepared by the Legal Directorate of the Ministry, with the observations to be documented and raised to the committee in charge of amending the law. No closing date of the consultation and no official channel for the submissions were announced.
Our observation. From our side we see this as an opportunity for the companies and the law offices to deliver what they are facing in practice in the registration, the amendment of the articles of association, the branches of foreign companies and the corporate governance, and we advise whoever is having observations to contact the Legal Directorate of the Ministry to enquire on the way of submitting them.

بحسب ما نُشر عن وزارة التجارة في 20 تشرين الأول 2026، عقدت الوزارة اجتماعاً تشاورياً بمشاركة عدد من الاتحادات والمنظمات الاقتصادية ومجلس تطوير القطاع الخاص وهيئة الأوراق المالية ودائرة تسجيل الشركات لمناقشة مسودة تعديل قانون الشركات رقم 21 لسنة 1997 التي أعدتها الدائرة القانونية في الوزارة، على أن تُوثّق الملاحظات وتُرفع إلى اللجنة المكلفة بتعديل القانون. لم يُعلن عن موعد لإغلاق التشاور ولا عن قناة رسمية لتقديم الملاحظات.
تعليقنا. من جانبنا نرى أن هذه فرصة للشركات ومكاتب المحاماة لإيصال ما تواجهه عملياً في التسجيل وتعديل عقود التأسيس وفروع الشركات الأجنبية وحوكمة الشركات، وننصح من لديه ملاحظات بالتواصل مع الدائرة القانونية في الوزارة للاستفسار عن طريقة تقديمها.
