The Central Bank of Iraq issued on 10 October 2026 a clarification on the traders' transfers after the change of the exchange rate. According to the clarification, no exchange rate difference is to be collected on the transfers which were proven to be purchased and covered on the previous official rate (1,320 dinars) before 7 October, and not on all the transfer requests submitted before the change of the rate, and the Bank confirmed that it is monitoring the related banking operations. The Bank made available also a complaint channel through its complaints platform and the email media.office@cbi.iq for any trader who is asked to pay additional amounts, and it announced the work with the electronic payment companies to issue "foreign trade" cards for the small traders.
Our observation. From our side we advise every company having a pending transfer to verify with its bank the status of the transfer and the date of its purchase and coverage, because this is the criterion deciding whether it is covered by the previous rate, and to document any request of a rate difference before filing the complaint.

أصدر البنك المركزي العراقي بتاريخ 10 تشرين الأول 2026 توضيحاً بشأن حوالات التجار بعد تعديل سعر الصرف. بحسب التوضيح، لا تُستوفى فروق سعر الصرف على الحوالات التي ثبت شراؤها وتغطيتها وفق السعر الرسمي السابق (1,320 ديناراً) قبل 7 تشرين الأول، وليس على جميع طلبات التحويل المقدمة قبل تعديل السعر، وأكد البنك أنه يراقب العمليات المصرفية ذات الصلة. كما أتاح البنك تقديم الشكاوى عبر منصة شكاوى البنك المركزي والبريد media.office@cbi.iq لمن يُطلب منه دفع مبالغ إضافية، وأعلن عن العمل مع شركات الدفع الإلكتروني لإصدار بطاقات \"تجارة خارجية\" لصغار التجار.
